In class we watched an episode of the show Black Mirror. The episode was about how everyone relied on their rating to get through life. If you were rated closer to five starts then you were considered rich and if you were rated closer to one star you were considered poor. The characters could not express anger or any negative emotions in fear of getting rated down by others.
This kind of technology and reliability on social media could be a reality very soon. There are already people who have made a living off of their social media. For example, beauty influencers on YouTube have created their whole image on being popular on their social media platforms. People use social media as away to boost people up or drag people down. I fear that in the future this type of technology will be a reality, because people are already addicted to the number of likes they get on a photo. This type of social media will cause people to be fake just to get their ratings up in order to be "accepted". If we are not careful, we could be rated like the products we buy on Amazon.
