The History of Cutting

The History of Cutting video was very interesting because it explains who were the founders of video editing and how they edited their videos. It starts out with explaining how films used to be still images that moved in different ways, much like the Ken Burns effect. It talks about in the beginning how the first filmmaker ended up making his own camera, because he was seen as a threat. The video then moves into discussing how overlaps came about. This is when an action is repeated. It then moves into talking about a filmmaker named Griffith, who was the one who invented the 180 degree rule to not confuse the audience on where the characters were. He had created a very successful movie, in terms of editing, but was forced to make millions of dollars in edits because it was seen as racist. This film was very interesting, today we take for granted how well films are edited.
